Shayda
Die Iranerin Shayda lebt mit ihrem Ehemann Hossein und der gemeinsamen sechsjährigen Tochter Mona in Australien. Weil ihr Mann ihren westlichen Lebensstil nicht akzeptieren will, kommt es zu Auseinandersetzungen. Shayda sucht mit dem Mädchen Zuflucht in einem Frauenhaus und reicht die Scheidung ein. Die kleine Mona ist ob der neuen Situation verunsichert, Shayda bemüht sich, trotz der schwierigen Umstände möglichst viel Normalität in den Alltag zu bringen. Als das persische Neujahrsfest naht, wächst ihre Hoffnung auf einen echten Neuanfang. Zum Ungewohnten an diesem Film, der als Festivalabschluss auf Locarnos Piazza Grande seine Schweizer Premiere hatte, gehört, dass er eine iranische Geschichte vor australischem Hintergrund erzählt.
