I am Not Your Negro
Als der Schriftsteller James Baldwin 1987 starb, hinterliess er ein Manuskript mit dem Titel «Remember This House». Das Buch sollte eine Auseinandersetzung mit den Biografien dreier enger Freunde werden, die alle bei Attentaten ermordet wurden. Die persönlichen Erinnerungen an die drei grossen Bürgerrechtler verknüpft Baldwin mit einer Reflektion der eigenen, schmerzhaften Lebenserfahrung als Schwarzer in den USA. Wenn man den mit Archivmaterial und dem luziden Text montierten Film über Martin Luther King, Malcolm X und Medgar Evers anschaut, wähnt man sich in der Gegenwart. «History is not the past, it is the present», auch das sagt Baldwin. Gibt es einen Film, der präziser auf den Punkt bringt, worum es heute noch geht? – Wir zeigen den äusserst sehenswerten Film in Ergänzung zur Ausstellung im Kunsthaus Aarau.
