A Taste of Whale
Sea Shepherd-Aktivisten kämpfen gegen das Abschlachten der Wale auf den Färöern. Zu Recht? Vincent Kelner zeigt unvoreingenommen eine alte Tradition der Jagd auf Grindwale auf den Färöer-Inseln – und wie sie seit langem von Tierschützenden bekämpft wird. Er lässt sowohl die Einheimischen zu Wort kommen, die den «Grindadráp» als Teil ihrer kulturellen Identität sehen, als auch Sea Shepherd-Aktive, die diese Abschlachtungen als «monströs» bezeichnen. «Es ist blutig, es ist barbarisch, aber das ist genauso, wenn man jegliches Tier tötet» sagt ein Anwohner im Film. In Schlachthöfen geschieht die Tötung unter Ausschluss der Öffentlichkeit. Auf den Färöer ist das Blutbad offensichtlich – wird es deshalb viel mehr bekämpft? Dieser Film mag unsere Haltung zum «tierisch essen» hinterfragen.
